hand full of models produced.
1986 from Ford production lines to Saleen Autosport tuning bays, Ford offers the public and Saleen a stronger
base Mustang canvas to start with... Electronic Fuel Injection, revised and stronger engine castings, forged
flat-top pistons with a 9:2.1 compression ratio and a heavier duty 8.8 rear axle, coupled with Saleen's
performance additions and Racecraft suspension components handling abilities, Saleen Mustang wins the
grueling 24 Hours of Mosport in the Sports Car Club of America's Escort Endurance Series Championship.
1987 with even more performance revisions and new interior and
exterior styling, Saleen Mustang dominates the SCCA Escort
Endurance Series Championship with driver, team, and manufacturer
wins and titles. Saleen Mustangs are making quite a name on rural
and city streets around the U.S as well... GM Ponycar owners are
soon finding out that this Mustang is a new breed of performance.
The IROC-Z, GTA Trans Am and Firebird Formula 350 drivers will
notice a few different items on this version of the Ford Mustang,
extreme aerodynamics, aggressive exhaust note, a road racing rake, numbers on the drivers side front nose,
and a large decal across the crest of the windshield that reads, "SALEEN". The F-body guys always did have a
"one up" on the Mustang GT in the suspension and braking department, but not anymore. These Mustangs were
built to Road Race! Saleen Mustangs were literally rolling off showroom floors and winning SCCA competitions.
1988-93 Saleen Mustang team wins the 24 Hours of Mosport for the third consecutive year, this time with a 1-2-3
finish. Supercharged Saleen SC Mustangs compete in the SCCA World Challenge series, finish third and fifth in
1994-95 an all new complete re-design of the Mustang (codename: SN95) and Saleen has an even better
Mustang to start with. Saleen produces the 370 HP S351 and the 480 HP Saleen SR, the most impressive
product lineup to date. S351 Speedster is introduced in '95, featuring a 351-cubic-inch, 371-hp engine. An
optional supercharger boosts output to 480 hp. The Saleen/Allen Speedlab team is formed with actor Tim Allen.
The new team with new driver Price Cobb win the final race of the 1995 SCCA World Challenge series. 1995
would be the last year of the beloved 5.0L powered Saleen Mustang, the next year would introduce a complete
new and modern engine design with the Modular Motor. The Saleen Mustang would continue to grow and win
multiple Championships and Titles in the years to come...
