The 2010 LS3 powered Camaro SS puts GM back in the
American PonyCar wars. Versus the Iconic Ford Mustang
GT and the resurrected Hemi powered Dodge Challenger.
A market that GM has not competed in since the
discontinuation of the the 400hp LS2 powered 6.0 liter
Pontiac GTO and LS1 powered 5.7 liter Camaro Z28,
Formula V8 and WS6 "Ram-Air" Trans Am.

Thanks to a loyal Camaro following and publications like
GM High-Tech performance for leading the cause,
GM listened, built the
2006 Camaro Concept, and in the
summer of 2008 officially stated that the Camaro Concept
would be a reality in early 2009, as sales would begin for
the 2010 Camaro. Built on the new GM global rear-drive platform, offered up would be a 300hp "economy
version"  V6 powered RS model (thats right, a 300hp V6, nuts huh?), and the Big Brother "performance version"
400hp V8 SS (Super Sport) model. Thats almost 100hp more than the Blue Oval's revised 2010 315hp
PonyCar. But Ford was not going to sit back and let The General and the Dodge Boys have all the glory...
But thats another topic on another page... (Mustang fellas can click here for the new 400+hp'd 5.0 Mustang GT)
